Seeboards – Adding Inches for Better Visibility

Can’t see over the dodger?  Standing on your toes to be a little taller?  Is one on the boat short and one tall so you can never agree on the level of things in front of you?  Well, no worries short folks – here’s a product I use every day on my boat.   Seeboards are a quick and easy height adjustment system that is tough and versatile and will allow you to see ahead even if the bow is riding high.

Seeboards are modular, stackable, polyethylene boards that snap together to give you a customized height platform on which to stand at the helm.  They are sold with a base and top board combination and intermediary spacing panels. The boards measure 12” x 20” and come in black, grey and white.  The top and base boards are 3/4” high each and the spacer boards are 1 1/2” each so each height adjustment comes in increments of 1 1/2 inches.  The boards weigh 2 lbs apiece and are saltwater, UV and weather resistant.  They are designed to drain so that moisture is moved through and out to keep things dry and mold free.

The base board has plastic, non-marking feet that are screwed into the board.  We tried a set on a teak cockpit grating and they were stable and did not slide but they can break off if they settle into the grating.  The top panel offers two options.  You can either stand on a removable fatigue mat made of black foam or you can choose a removable carpet customized with your boat name or a logo.
The boards work great to give you a new perspective on what’s ahead.  They also make great footrests when seated and a handy step up too.  The only thing to think about is where to store them when not in use but I just leave mine in place and make others walk

Seeboards come with a 2 year limited warranty and they float in case they go overboard. Top and base board combinations are $119.95 and spacer panels are $39.95.  For more information visit www.seeboards.com.
